As per the latest amendment introduced by the MCA in the structure of annual filing forms (MGT 7 & MGT-7A), all Companies/Body Corporates are now mandatorily required to attach photographs of their Registered Office.
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has made it mandatory for companies to attach a photograph of their registered office when filing annual returns in Forms MGT-7 and MGT-7A.
This new requirement was introduced via amendments to the Companies (Management and Administration) Rules, 2014, and became effective from July 14, 2025.
This move is part of the MCA’s push for greater transparency and to curb the proliferation of shell companies that only exist on paper.
These photographs must clearly display a flex board/signage containing the following details:
1. Name of the Company (in English and local language)
[Provided that where a company has changed its name or names during the last two years, it shall paint or affix or print, as the case may be, along with its name, the former name or names so changed during the last two years.]
2. Registered Office Address (in English and local language)
3. Corporate Identification Number (CIN) (Optional)
Who is affected:
All companies: The requirement to file the registered office photograph is mandatory for all companies, irrespective of size or type, and applies to annual filings for the financial year 2024–25 onwards.
MGT-7: The revised Form MGT-7, for companies other than One Person Companies (OPCs) and small companies, now requires a photograph.
MGT-7A: The updated Form MGT-7A, specifically for OPCs and small companies, also includes this requirement.
