The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has currently launched the Vishwas Scheme as a one-time relief measure for employers to resolve long-pending disputes regarding penal damages for delayed Provident Fund (PF) remittances.
The scheme aims to significantly reduce litigation and legal costs for businesses.
Announced at the 238th meeting of the Central Board of Trustees in October 2025, the scheme rationalizes penalty rates that have historically led to prolonged court cases.

-Penal damages slashed to a flat 1% per month 📉.
-Graded penalty for defaults up to 4 months, making it fairer and easier to settle.
2️⃣ Wider Coverage:
-Applies to ongoing, finalized but unpaid, and pre-adjudication cases.
-Employers can regularize pending PF dues without fear of excessive penalties.
3️⃣ Simplified Settlement:
Encourages employers to clear old defaults voluntarily 🤝.
